This state-of-the-art athletic facility and student center includes a 4,500-seat intercollegiate sports arena and convocation center, a recreation center, a student union, and a performing arts center. Generous use of glass maximizes day lighting and affords views of athletic, recreational, and social activities within. Several structural systems were utilized to accommodate the building’s different uses including PSI joists, double T’s, and steel trusses spanning 200 feet. The center, which boasts 16 dramatic skylights carrying 320 feet, has varying exterior facade components including architectural precast, curtain wall, metal panels and stucco.

Three levels of dedicated facilities include fitness, racquetball, a gymnasium, climbing wall, multipurpose rooms and lockers. A performing arts wing includes a black-box theater, dance theater and academic facilities. Activity spaces along the galleria/spine include food service, offices and a Flight Deck lounge. The center ties the academic and residential quadrants together, fostering a sense of community. In addition, it features the world’s largest aquatic mural.
