The modernization of this Pompano Beach landmark included upgrading the lobby and interior and exterior amenity areas, while retaining the Old Florida charm. The public spaces in the resort’s nine-story main tower were transformed by fully renovating the lobby and dining room, adding a new porte cochere, and gutting and rebuilding the bar and kitchen. The resort’s two-story building was repurposed by creating new poolside bathrooms, cabanas, a pantry, three guest rooms and a new, three-sided bar with folding glass walls that open to take advantage of ocean breezes. Exterior improvements refreshed landscaping throughout the property, resurfaced decks for both resort pools and renovated the main parking area. The project’s fast-track schedule made precise planning and logistics essential. Challenges include moving materials and crews through areas on the site as narrow as 10 to 15 feet wide.
