Miller Construction Building New AutoNation BMW
Miller Construction Company has launched construction of a new showroom and service center for the existing AutoNation BMW of Delray Beach dealership, on Linton Boulevard just east of I-95. Enabling AutoNation to maintain sales and service operations at the site throughout construction.
Designed by Sparc+ Architecture Studios of Galveston, Texas, the new building’s clean-lined look will reflect BMW’s innovative, high-performance brand. Drawing on expertise constructing dealerships based on the unique design standards of varied automotive brands, Miller’s team will install upscale materials for a contemporary feel, including Starphire ultra-clear curtain wall insulated glass, a super-smooth Parex exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS) and imported Clinker tile. Within the 28,000-square-foot showroom. they’ll create a customer lounge and BMW merchandise shop. Sequencing, site safety and cleanliness will all be key, as Miller ensures that the dealership stays operational.
The dealership will feature an unusual new landmark – a glass display enclosure for stacking cars three high, which will be visible from I-95. As a construction challenge, the display tower and adjoining, elevated lift deck calls for precise timing and coordination. Miller’s crew must lower the lift parts into place before framing the enclosure’s roof and ensure the building’s steel fits the opening needed for the lift and platform. Engineers for the new dealership project are Robert Booth, P.E. (MEP), Thomas Engineering Group (civil) and Integrity Structural Corporation (structural).
Fort Lauderdale-based AutoNation, America’s largest automotive retailer, has hundreds of vehicle franchises across 16 states, including the Mercedes-Benz of Delray dealership a block east on Linton Boulevard.
