Miller Begins Six-Story, 427,856-sf BMW Pines Collision Center and Garage Complex for Holman Automotive

BMW Pines Garage

Miller Construction has launched its sixth major project for Holman Automotive, creating the six-story, 427,856-square-foot BMW of Pembroke Pines Collision Center and Inventory Garage just east of Interstate 75 at 14800 Sheridan Street, Pembroke Pines.

Located adjacent to Holman Automotive’s BMW of Pembroke Pines dealership, the new precast double-tee concrete structure’s ground floor will be a state-of-the-art collision center with compressed air systems, car lifts, paint booths, alignment pits and a car wash. Floors two through six will provide parking for the dealership’s inventory.

Echoing BMW’s high-performance image, the building designed by FSMY Architects and Planners of Fort Lauderdale will feature aluminum louvered panels to soften the garage’s exterior, with plants growing on a customized wall system grid to create living “green walls.” The interior’s advisor and waiting areas will have upscale finishes built to BMW’s national showroom standards.

BMW of Pembroke Pines will be fully operational throughout the project, and Miller will strategically stage construction on the new building’s tight site. Crews will stage and lift approximately 1,200 precast components, including concrete panels, plus concrete double tees, beams and columns to erect the structure, according to Miller Construction President Brian Sudduth. Completion is scheduled for 4th quarter 2020.

“Miller is streamlining the process, teaming with us to add value to this highly visible West Broward site through refined esthetics and greater customer convenience,” said Holman Automotive Executive Vice President Glenn Gardner. Holman’s Audi Pembroke Pines, previously built by Miller, is immediately west of the BMW dealership.

To support the BMW of Pembroke Pines Collision Center and Inventory Garage’s structure and accommodate car lifts, Miller Construction is dewatering portions of the site and installing foundations four to six feet into the water table. When completed, the garage will serve as an extension of the BMW showroom, with high-intensity LED lighting ensuring cars have visual “pop” when sales associates take customers to the garage in a golf cart to view more vehicle choices.

Project team members also include engineering firms Winningham & Fradley of Oakland Park (civil), Bryntesen Structural Engineers of Fort Lauderdale (structural) and FAE Consulting of Deerfield Beach (MEP).

Miller Construction previously teamed with Holman Automotive to create landmark projects including Lauderdale BMW showroom and the 209,023-square-foot BMW/MINI Service Center. Both of those award-winning projects are in Fort Lauderdale, as is Holman’s Lauderdale Imports dealership, which Miller is constructing to showcase luxury brands Aston Martin, Bentley and Rolls Royce.
