Miller Completes $6.1 Million in Projects For City Furniture in Midtown Miami & Tamarac
Rolling out City Furniture’s next-generation showroom concepts, Miller Construction Company has completed fast-track build-outs totaling $6.1 million, for the top-selling South Florida furniture retailer.
Miller’s crews delivered the sleek new, 26,000-square-foot Midtown Miami showroom on the second floor of District 36, located at 3635 NE 1 Avenue, Miami. At City Furniture’s two-story showroom on the company’s headquarters campus in Tamarac, Miller fully renovated 79,807 square feet in a phased project, with the store fully operational throughout construction.
Both projects included creating the innovative KC Café & Wine Bar, a new amenity City Furniture is rolling out, enabling shoppers to enjoy a glass of wine or craft beer while browsing the showrooms.
Performing with highly compressed timeframes, Miller delivered both showrooms in time for the holiday shopping season. Each project involved distinct challenges beyond fast tracking, according to Miller Construction Sr. Vice President Brian Sudduth. “Giving customers easy access to the second-story store from Midtown’s NE 36 Street meant installing escalators,” he said. “That required partial demolition of the second floor’s post-tension deck, a precise operation with vital safety considerations.”
At the Tamarac showroom, Miller’s crews drew on their experience in hospital and mission-critical renovations, using strict air quality and noise control procedures throughout the project’s four phases. “Working in one section of the showroom at a time, we minimized any inconvenience to City Furniture’s staff and customers,” Sudduth said. In addition to the new wine bar, the Tamarac showroom at 6701 Hiatus Rd. now features on-trend finishes, energy efficient LED lighting, and a new Home Accent Center with a wide selection of rugs and home accessories.
Miller has completed a total of 18 new construction and renovation projects for City Furniture, which ranks as one of Furniture Today magazine’s Top 100 U.S. Furniture Stores.
