Miami International University's Professional Caliber Sound Studio

Fort Lauderdale, FL – Miller Construction Company has completed a new sound studio at Miami International University of Art & Design. The professional-caliber studio, which serves students in the university's Audio Production bachelor's degree program, features surround sound and technology including an SSL Duality console for analog and digital sound capabilities. "The studio is a key addition to the Miami International University of Art & Design Audio Production program," said the school's President Erika Fleming. The program's curriculum begins with foundation courses, then layers in more complex coursework in music theory, acoustics, business, editing and the science of sound. For Audio Production students, who are required to complete two internships, the studio is designed to build confidence and transferable skills.

The Miller crew worked closely with acoustic consultant Ross Alexander of Miami to perfect the new sound studio's acoustic environment. For the highly detailed challenge, Project Manager Jeff Slade led Miller's veteran broadcast facility construction team. The Florida construction company was also responsible for building the all-digital HD broadcast facility for WPLG Local 10 and the NBC6 broadcast facility, both in Broward County. The new sound studio was the latest of several Miller projects for The Art Institutes, a group of educational institutions which also includes the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
