Holy Cross Hospital Hurricane Hardening Project

Fort Lauderdale, FL – Florida construction firm Miller Construction Company has completed a 24-month hurricane hardening project for Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, replacing more than 600 windows and hurricane louvers in critical care areas and patient rooms.

Delivering the project on schedule and on budget, the company’s healthcare team minimized any impact on patient comfort and on the hospital staff’s schedules and protocols, according to Miller Director of Healthcare Construction Wayne Hannaka.

“Precise scheduling ensured that our team stayed virtually invisible to the staff and patients,” Hannaka said. “Miller has developed detailed protocols for working in a healthcare environment, from infection control to ensuring staff’s convenience. Drawing on that expertise was crucial for a project of this scope.” Midway in the construction schedule Miller Senior Foreman Christopher Morley was honored with a Construction Association of South Florida Craftsmanship Award for excellence on the project.

Miller Construction Company has partnered with Holy Cross Hospital on major construction initiatives including the Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Center and expansion of the Michael & Dianne Biennes Comprehensive Cancer Center.
