Miller Construction Company Completes Fort Lauderdale BMW/MINI Service Center

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Design/builder Miller Construction Company has completed a massive new $15 million service center for Holman Automotive that will provide the full range of services for the regional automotive retailer’s nearby Lauderdale BMW and Lauderdale MINI dealerships.

As Holman Automotive’s largest single facility, the 209,023-square-foot tilt-wall structure at 2601 South Andrews Avenue includes 52 service lifts in the fully air-conditioned repair space, ground level and elevated parking for 552 cars, administrative offices for both dealerships, customer café, a lounge and gift shop for each brand, detail bays, a state-of-the-art carwash, and three levels of mezzanine rack storage for the Parts Department. Just blocks from the BMW and MINI dealerships, the location offers easy access to Downtown Fort Lauderdale and Interstates 95 and 595.

“This 5.6-acre site gave us an opportunity to build at a size and scale seldom possible on South Florida’s infill properties east of I-95,” said Bob Bamonte, facilities development manager with Holman Automotive Group. “Leading the project team, Miller delivered on the site’s full potential with a highly efficient center that’s a first-class experience for our customers and our staff.”

Although it’s dedicated to service rather than sales, the new facility incorporates the look and feel of BMW’s and MINI’s distinctive corporate branding standards at every turn. Craftsmanship and high-end finishes include decorative stainless steel screening and 60,000 square feet of durable, imported “clinker” tile painstakingly installed by German craftsmen flown in by BMW’s vendor.

“Partnering with Holman’s team always means raising the bar for automotive facilities,” said Miller Construction Company President Harley Miller, whose BMW was one of the first cars serviced on the new facility’s opening day. “It’s great to see this historic site evolve as a landmark in Fort Lauderdale’s future.” For decades, the site was home to Causeway Lumber, which has relocated its operations in the city.

Miller used 3-D modeling with Revit Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to ensure smooth collaboration among design team members, including FSMY Architects & Planners, Bryntesen Structural Engineers, Winningham & Fradley Civil Engineers and MEP Engineering firm KAMM Consulting.
