Traci Miller Martineau Named Leadership Broward Foundation Chair

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 1, 2008 - Traci Miller Martineau has been installed as Board Chair of the Leadership Broward Foundation. She will head the community leadership training organization for a one-year term.

A graduate of the Foundation’s year-long leadership training program, Martineau is a Business Development Associate with Fort Lauderdale-based Miller Construction Company, a prominent design/builder and construction services firm. She has served on the Leadership Broward Foundation’s board of directors for five years, and founded its Dinner and Dialogue issues forum. She also served on the steering committee that in 2007 founded Emerge Broward, the leadership skills and personal development program geared to young professionals.

Widely recognized for her effective and innovative roles in community organizations, Martineau also is a steering committee member of Women’s Way of the United Way of Broward County. She is a former board member of the Cooperative Feeding Program, and chaired Rebuilding Together Broward County’s 2006 and 2007 Builder’s Olympiad and Family Festival that has raised funds to renovate homes of local low-income families.

Established in 1982, Leadership Broward educates today's emerging and existing leaders on the issues affecting the community, provides access to key decision makers, connects members with a powerful community network, teaches hands-on leadership skills, and gives class participants the chance to work one-on-one with a community agency. Through its mission, "To inspire excellence in leadership in Broward County by developing leaders and encouraging community trusteeship," Leadership Broward has graduated more than 2,500 members who currently hold leadership positions in virtually every major corporate, nonprofit, and civic organization in the county.
